Lake County, OR – The driver who was killed in a two-vehicle traffic collision on Highway 140 near Lakeview has been identified.

The Oregon State Police identified the victim as 61-year-old Nicholas Cardoza from Lakeview.

OSP said a white Mercedes Sprinter van, driven by Daniel Klinkert, 48, of Tulsa was traveling westbound on 140 when it entered an intersection, just as a southbound red Kenworth commercial motor vehicle towing double trailers also entered the intersection.

The Kenworth driver, later identified as Cardoza, swerved to avoid colliding with the van. The truck went off the roadway and overturned.

Cardoza was pronounced dead at the scene.

Klinkert was not injured.

Lake County, OR – One person was killed on Tuesday in an 18-wheeler accident in Lake County near Lakeview, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 3:49 p.m. on July 1, on Highway 140 near milepost 1.

Authorities said a white Mercedes Sprinter van was traveling westbound on the highway when it entered an intersection with a southbound red Kenworth commercial motor vehicle towing double trailers.

The Kenworth swerved to avoid a collision with the van, left the roadway, and rolled over.

The driver of the Kenworth was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

The driver of the van was uninjured in the accident.

The accident closed the highway for about six hours.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
