Mitzi Montgomery Dies After Being Struck by Amtrak Train on West Main Street

Plano, IL. – 48-year-old Mitzi L. Montgomery of Plano has been identified as person killed in an Amtrak train accident last week Thursday in Plano, Illinois, according to the Kendall County Coroner’s Office.

The accident happened a while before 9:00 p.m. on June 26 in the 800 block of West Main Street.

Authorities said Montgomery was near the BNSF tracks when she was hit by an Amtrak train. She sustained blunt force trauma and was declared dead at the scene.

The tracks were reopened at about 11:13 p.m.

The Little Rock Fox Fire Crews, the BNSF investigators and the Kendall County Coroner assisted at the scene.

An investigation by the Plano Police department is ongoing.
