Investigators determined the deadly auto-pedestrian crash occurred just before 2 a.m. on June 8 in the 100 block of West Seventh Street.

Vermilion County, IL – The Vermilion County Coroner has identified the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a suspected hit-and-run driver in Tilton early Sunday.
The coroner identified the victim as Mitchel Leon Burks, Jr., of Tilton.
The incident was reported around 6 a.m. and responding deputies found an unresponsive male on the roadway.

Authorities said Danville man Andre Sanders was traveling westbound on West Seventh Street when he Mitchel Burks Jr.
Sanders reportedly stopped, exited his vehicle, noticed that he had struck a pedestrian, and left the scene without rendering help to the victim and did not report the incident.
Mitchel Burks Jr. died at the scene.
The Vermilion County Sheriff’s deputies located Sanders at his home on Sunday afternoon and arrested him. Sanders was charged with leaving the scene of the fatal accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
