Authorities said a scooter rider was injured following an accident Monday morning at the intersection of Northwest 79th Street and Northwest 17th Avenue in Northwest Miami-Dade.
Northwest Miami-Dade, FL.- A scooter rider was injured following an accident Monday morning in Northwest Miami-Dade, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on August 3 at the intersection of Northwest 79th Street and Northwest 17th Avenue.
Emergency crews initially responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck but determined the victim was operating a scooter.
Investigators said the scooter rider was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway before being struck by a vehicle.
The rider was transported by ground ambulance to Ryder Trauma Center for treatment.
Authorities said the collision left the involved sedan with a shattered windshield.
The intersection remained closed through part of the morning commute before reopening later in the day.
The accident remains under investigation.
