5 Killed in Amazon Cargo Plane Crash at Miami International Airport

Authorities said five people were killed after an Amazon cargo plane overran a runway while landing Sunday afternoon at Miami International Airport.

Miami, FL.- Five people were killed following a cargo plane accident Sunday afternoon at Miami International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. on September 6 while the aircraft was landing at the airport.

The aircraft was identified as Prime Air Flight 7598, an Amazon Air Boeing 767-300 operated by 21 Air.

The cargo plane had departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, earlier in the day before arriving in Miami.

According to initial information, the aircraft overran the runway during landing and struck multiple vehicles near the airport.

One person became trapped beneath one of the vehicles following the collision and required specialized rescue crews to be freed.

Five people were transported to local hospitals following the accident.

At least three of those injured were reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities later confirmed that five people died as a result of the crash.

The identities of those who died had not been publicly released at the time of the initial report.

The disabled aircraft remained near the northwest end of Miami International Airport following the accident.

Airport operations were affected by the crash, with travelers warned about potential delays and flight cancellations.
