Authorities said one person was killed and two others were injured following a boat accident on the Fox River near McHenry Saturday afternoon.
McHenry County, IL.- One person was killed and two others were injured following a boating accident Saturday afternoon in McHenry County.
The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on July 25 in the 1800 block of Fernwood Lane, south of the McHenry Dam.
Investigators said a larger boat was traveling at a high rate of speed through a no wake zone when it struck a smaller boat.
Authorities identified the operator of the larger boat as 45 year old Richard Stevenson of Lisle. He was charged with aggravated driving under the influence and reckless homicide.
Officials said there were two people aboard each boat.
A woman aboard the smaller boat was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man from the same boat was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Another person from the larger boat was located and treated for non life threatening injuries after both occupants initially left the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
