Authorities said a 29 year old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning while walking along County Road 200A in Marion County. The driver initially left the scene before returning about an hour later, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Marion County, FL.- A 29 year old man was killed following a pedestrian hit and run accident Wednesday morning in Marion County.
The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on September 9 near Northeast 110th Street.
Troopers said a silver Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on County Road 200A when the collision occurred.
The pedestrian was reportedly walking along the east shoulder of the roadway when he was struck by the Ford.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, but the 29 year old man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not publicly released the identity of the pedestrian.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Ford driver initially left the scene following the collision.
Approximately one hour later, the driver returned to the accident scene and admitted being involved in the crash.
Troopers identified the driver as 29 year old Matthew Boardman of Marion County.
Boardman was arrested and faces a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

The fatal hit and run accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
