The fire protection district officials said a sport-utility car crashed into a Walmart semi-trailer truck pinning the male driver inside.

Harvard, IL. – A man was hospitalized with severe injuries following a big rig collision on Sunday afternoon in unincorporate Harvard, northwest of Chicago.
According to the Harvard Fire Protection District, the accident happened at 2:37 p.m. on Route 173 and Crowley Road.
The fire protection district officials said a sport-utility car crashed into a Walmart semi-trailer truck pinning the male driver inside.
The impact sent the SUV off the roadway and it had rested in a wooded area. Fire officials freed the driver and called for a medical helicopter and a second fire protection district.
The male driver was extricated from the SUV in less than 10 minutes, and he was flown to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford with critical injuries.
The woman operating the truck was not hurt.
The roadway was blocked for around two hours following the collision.
An investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s office is ongoing.
