Authorities said a 22 year old driver died and two passengers were injured after a vehicle struck multiple cattle early Monday morning on Loran Road in rural Stephenson County.
Loran Township, IL.- A 22 year old man was killed and two other men were injured following a vehicle accident involving cattle Monday morning in Loran Township.
The accident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on September 7 near the intersection of West Loran Road and South Lott Road.
Emergency crews responded to the area and found a heavily damaged Ford sedan in a ditch on the north side of Loran Road.
Three men were inside the vehicle, including the 22 year old driver, a 25 year old front seat passenger, and a 25 year old rear seat passenger.
The front seat passenger was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.
The rear seat passenger was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
The 22 year old driver suffered critical injuries and died while being transported to a hospital.
According to investigators, the Ford was traveling east on Loran Road when it struck multiple cattle that were in the roadway.
The vehicle then left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch.
Authorities said 15 cattle were found on the roadway following the collision. Two died as a result of the accident, while two others were euthanized because of severe injuries.
Additional information about the conditions of the two injured passengers has not been released.
The fatal accident remains under investigation.
