LAS VEGAS, Nev. (August 26, 2019)- Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys takes a stand against human trafficking by joining other community partners in sponsoring U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking’s (USIAHT) first annual ‘Stomp Out the Demand’ 5K walk/run on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Sunset Park (2601 E Sunset Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89120). Check-in is at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K walk/run beginning at 8:00 a.m. 100% of proceeds from individual participants and sponsorships such as Lerner and Rowe’s will be used by USIAHT to help combat the demand, as well as raise awareness about human trafficking. Funds will also be used to provide safe environments for victims of human trafficking to recover.
Part of USIAHT’s awareness campaign includes sharing human trafficking statistics. For example, between 60% and 70% of trafficked children in the U.S. are projected to have come from child social services or the foster care system. Additionally, the average age a child first becomes a victim of sex trafficking is between 12 to 14. Further, human trafficking victims can be U.S. citizens or of any nationality, age, socioeconomic status, or gender.
“Human trafficking is a reprehensible act that exploits the most fragile members of society and must be stopped. That is why organizations such as the U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking need as much support as possible in their quest to stand up and fight those who seek illicit profits by objectifying other humans,” stated Glen Lerner. “Our team couldn’t be more proud to join others in showing our support of USIAHT’s efforts by sponsoring their Stomp Out the Demand 5K and showing up to walk side-by-side others who also want to fight to end human trafficking.“
