Troopers said a Florida Highway Patrol sergeant was injured following an accident involving a Tesla and an FHP patrol vehicle Monday morning on Interstate 4 near Lakeland.
Lakeland, FL.- A Florida Highway Patrol sergeant was injured following a two vehicle accident Monday morning on Interstate 4 near Lakeland.
The accident occurred on August 10 on Interstate 4 in Polk County.
According to FHP, the Tesla was traveling eastbound when its driver attempted to exit the interstate and lost control of the vehicle.
Investigators said the Tesla entered the path of the sergeant’s patrol vehicle, resulting in a collision.
The FHP sergeant sustained non life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The accident disrupted traffic on Interstate 4 before all lanes reopened by approximately 7:30 a.m.
The accident remains under investigation.
