Authorities said two drivers were injured following a two vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon on Route 20 near rural Galena in Jo Daviess County.

The accident occurred on July 22 on Route 20 near rural Galena.
Investigators said both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Route 20 when they approached a traffic signal that had turned yellow in a construction zone.
Authorities said the lead driver slowed for the traffic signal, but the second vehicle struck the rear of the first vehicle.
Both drivers were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The second driver was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
