Authorities said two students were hospitalized following an accident involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle Wednesday on Interstate 265 near Jeffersonville.
Jeffersonville, IN.- Two middle school students were injured following a school bus accident Wednesday on westbound Interstate 265.
The accident occurred on August 26 near State Road 62 and 10th Street.
The Harrison County school bus was transporting members of the North Harrison Middle School volleyball team to a game in Charlestown.
Authorities said the bus was driven by 69 year old Debra Barr, who had been traveling slowly along the emergency shoulder before attempting to make a U turn through a median crossover.
The school bus stopped while attempting the turn and was struck from behind by a westbound passenger car.
The car caught fire following the collision. Bystanders at the scene were able to extinguish the fire.
Two students aboard the school bus suffered injuries and were transported to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville for treatment.
Authorities said the students’ injuries were considered non life threatening.
The driver of the passenger car suffered minor injuries in the collision.
