Troopers said a pedestrian was killed after a vehicle left Interstate 95 and struck the victim on a sidewalk Sunday in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville, FL.- A pedestrian was killed following an accident Sunday in Jacksonville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on August 9 near northbound Interstate 95 and Lem Turner Road.
Troopers said the vehicle traveled off the interstate, crossed the shoulder, went down an embankment, and continued onto Lem Turner Road.
The pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk when the vehicle struck them.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities said another person was transported to a local hospital. Information about that person’s condition has not been released.
The Florida Highway Patrol clarified the fatality after an earlier report contained conflicting information regarding who had died.
Additional information about the circumstances leading up to the collision has not been released.
The accident remains under investigation.
