Officer Hurt, Passenger Critically Injured in Accident at East 30th Street and North Gladstone Avenue in Indianapolis

Police said an IMPD officer was injured and another person suffered critical injuries following a three vehicle accident Sunday morning on Indianapolis’ east side.

Indianapolis, IN.- An IMPD officer and another person were injured following a three vehicle accident Sunday morning in Indianapolis.

The accident occurred around 8:45 a.m. on August 9 at the intersection of East 30th Street and North Gladstone Avenue.

Police said the officer was responding to a call when one vehicle moved onto the shoulder to allow the patrol car to pass.

Investigators said a Ford Mustang attempted to pass the vehicle and struck its rear fender, causing the Mustang to spin into the path of the officer’s patrol vehicle.

The officer was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

A passenger inside the Mustang was also transported to a hospital with critical injuries.

Police identified the Mustang driver as a 29 year old man. He was arrested and preliminarily charged with driving without ever receiving a license and being involved in an accident resulting in serious bodily injury.

The accident remains under investigation.
