Woman Killed, 6 Hurt in Accident at SR 81 and Holmes County Road 185

Troopers said a 21 year old woman was killed and six others were injured following a two vehicle accident Sunday morning near the Alabama border in Holmes County.

Holmes County, FL.- A 21 year old Tennessee woman was killed and six other people were injured following a two vehicle accident Sunday morning in Holmes County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on August 16 at the intersection of SR 81 and Holmes County Road 185 near the Alabama border.

Troopers said the collision involved an SUV carrying five occupants and a pickup truck carrying two people.

The 21 year old Tennessee woman was a passenger in the SUV and died from injuries suffered in the collision.

Four other occupants of the SUV suffered various injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

According to investigators, the pickup truck was driven by a man from Enterprise, Alabama. Troopers determined the pickup driver failed to stop at the intersection and entered the path of the SUV.

The pickup truck driver and his passenger suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Authorities have not released additional information about the identities or conditions of those injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
