1 Killed, 2 Critically Hurt in Head-On Accident in Forsyth

Authorities said a 53 year old Clinton man was killed and two women were critically injured following a head on accident Sunday afternoon on Illiniwick Drive in Forsyth.

Forsyth, IL.- One person was killed and two others were critically injured following a two vehicle head on accident Sunday afternoon in Forsyth.

The accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. on September 7 near Maroa-Forsyth Grade School.

Authorities said a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling west on Illiniwick Drive when it collided head on with an eastbound Cadillac Escalade.

The passenger in the Dodge Ram was identified as 53 year old Michael Spencer of Clinton.

Spencer suffered fatal injuries and died following the collision.

The Dodge Ram was driven by a 63 year old woman who suffered critical, life threatening injuries and was transported to a Springfield hospital for treatment.

Two people were inside the Cadillac. The driver was also transported to a Decatur hospital with critical injuries.

Witnesses told investigators that the Dodge Ram had reportedly been traveling at excessive speeds and driving erratically before the collision.

Authorities said investigators were preparing an arrest warrant for the pickup truck driver, pending her release from the hospital.

Additional information about the anticipated charges has not been released.

The fatal accident remains under investigation.
