Authorities said a man was critically injured after an SUV collided with a dump truck Saturday morning on East Main Street near Commonwealth Drive in East Dundee.
East Dundee, IL.- A man was critically injured following an accident involving an SUV and a dump truck Saturday morning in East Dundee.
The accident occurred around 11:41 a.m. on August 29 on East Main Street near Commonwealth Drive.
According to the East Dundee and Countryside Fire Protection District, the collision involved an SUV and a dump truck that was traveling in a turn lane.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found a man trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Firefighters worked to extricate the injured man and were able to free and stabilize him within approximately 11 minutes.
Crews initially requested a medical helicopter due to the severity of his injuries but later canceled the flight.
The critically injured man was transported by ambulance to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates for treatment.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding his current condition or identity.
A second person involved in the collision was evaluated by emergency personnel at the scene and released.
East Main Street was partially closed while emergency crews assisted those involved and the East Dundee Police Department investigated the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
