Troopers said a 22 year old Ormond Beach man was killed after his motorcycle struck the rear of a semi truck early Sunday morning on Interstate 4 near DeLand.
DeLand, FL.- A 22 year old motorcyclist was killed following an accident involving a semi truck Sunday morning on Interstate 4 in Volusia County.
The accident occurred before 4 a.m. on September 6 near mile marker 122, east of State Road 44.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was riding a 2024 Honda CBR500R eastbound in the inside lane of Interstate 4.
A 2025 semi truck traveling ahead of the motorcycle had stopped because of a roadblock caused by a separate accident.
Troopers said the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and struck the rear trailer of the semi truck.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, but the 22 year old rider suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.
The semi truck was driven by a 61 year old Miami man.
Authorities said the truck driver was not injured and remained at the scene following the collision.

The fatal accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
