Man Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on IL 116 near Cullom

Authorities said a 66 year old Fairbury man was killed following a collision involving his pickup truck and a semi tractor trailer Friday morning near Cullom.

Cullom, IL.- A 66 year old man was killed following a two vehicle accident Friday morning in Livingston County.

The accident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. on September 4 at Illinois Route 116 and North 3300 East Road in Sullivan Township.

Authorities identified the pickup truck driver as John C. Traub of Fairbury.

Traub was driving a Ford Ranger north on North 3300 East Road toward Illinois Route 116 when the collision occurred.

According to witness accounts, the Ford entered the intersection without stopping and was struck by an eastbound semi tractor trailer.

The impact sent the Ford Ranger into a ditch south and east of the intersection.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, but Traub suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

The semi truck driver was not injured in the collision.

Authorities said an autopsy was pending.
