Child and Man Critically Hurt in House Fire on South Merrill Avenue in Chicago

Authorities said a 1 year old boy and a 29 year old man suffered critical injuries following a residential fire Saturday evening in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood.

Chicago, IL.- Three people were injured following a residential fire Saturday evening in Chicago.

The fire occurred around 6:30 p.m. on August 8 in the 6800 block of South Merrill Avenue.

Emergency crews responded to the scene after receiving reports of a residential fire.

A 1 year old boy was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

A 29 year old man was also critically injured and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

A 26 year old woman suffered minor burns and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment.

Additional information about the circumstances surrounding the fire has not been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
