5 Hurt in Accident on East 63rd Street in Chicago

Police said five people, including three Chicago police officers, a man, and a child, were injured following a two vehicle accident Sunday night in Chicago’s Washington Park neighborhood.

Chicago, IL.- Five people were injured following a two vehicle accident Sunday night in Chicago.

The accident occurred around 9:33 p.m. on August 2 along East 63rd Street in the Washington Park neighborhood.

Authorities said officers in an unmarked squad car were responding to a report of a person with a gun when the collision occurred.

Investigators said the police vehicle was traveling westbound on East 63rd Street from Indiana Avenue when it collided with a white passenger vehicle traveling northbound.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and treated the injured victims.

Officials have not released the extent of the injuries or identified the occupants of the civilian vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation.
