Authorities said a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 95th Street in Chicago.
Chicago, IL.- A pedestrian was killed following an accident involving a vehicle Wednesday night on the Dan Ryan Expressway, according to Illinois State Police.
The accident occurred around 11:20 p.m. on September 2 in the southbound lanes near 95th Street.
Illinois State Police troopers were initially dispatched to the area following a report of a traffic accident.
When troopers arrived, they found a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
Emergency crews provided medical assistance before transporting the injured person to a local hospital.
Authorities said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The identity of the person who died has not been released.
Troopers said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following the collision.
Authorities have not released additional information about the driver or the circumstances that led to the pedestrian being struck.
The fatal accident remains under investigation.
