Authorities said two Bradford County sheriff’s deputies were injured after a patrol vehicle was struck by a civilian driver Monday while responding to an emergency call on State Road 100.
Bradford County, FL.- Two sheriff’s deputies were injured following an accident Monday on State Road 100 in Bradford County, according to the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred on July 20 on State Road 100 near SE 144th Street.
Investigators said the deputies were responding to an active call with emergency lights and sirens activated when a civilian vehicle collided with the lead patrol vehicle.
Authorities said the civilian driver initially pulled onto the right shoulder as the patrol cars approached. After the lead patrol vehicle passed, the driver turned into its lane, causing the collision.
The impact pushed the lead patrol vehicle into a second patrol vehicle traveling behind it.
The deputy driving the lead patrol vehicle suffered a cut to the arm and was evaluated for additional injuries.
A second deputy reported soreness in her left shoulder that may have been caused by her seat belt.
State Road 100 was temporarily closed following the accident before reopening about 30 minutes later.
The accident remains under investigation.
