Phoenix, AZ. – A bicyclist was killed after a traffic collision early Tuesday morning in Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The accident occurred at about 5:54 a.m. on June 9 at the Greenway Road and Cave Creek Road intersection.
Police said a driver was driving eastbound on Greenway Road and was trying to turn left to head north on Cave Creek Road when he failed to yield to a female cyclist. The driver stopped the vehicle and the passenger got out. The driver, a 47-year-old man, then fled the scene.
The female bicyclist was rushed to the hospital where she died.
The driver was located at a nearby home and was arrested.
It was not known why the passenger left the scene and police didn’t say if authorities are searching for that individual.
