Troopers said one person was killed and another was seriously injured following a rollover accident Tuesday night on U.S. Highway 231 near State Road 20 in Bay County.
Bay County, FL.- One person was killed and another suffered serious injuries following a rollover accident Tuesday night in Bay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on August 18 on U.S. Highway 231 just south of State Road 20.
The Florida Highway Patrol and Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene following reports of a serious rollover collision.
According to a preliminary investigation, a gray Toyota Tundra was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 231 when it veered to the left for unknown reasons.
The pickup truck left the roadway, began rotating, and overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its side along the north shoulder.
Authorities said the driver was ejected from the Toyota and suffered life threatening injuries in the accident.
Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputies immediately began life saving measures on the driver until emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene.
The passenger in the Toyota suffered serious injuries.
Both occupants were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities said the driver later died despite continued medical efforts.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
