Martin County, FL. – One person was airlifted following a multi-vehicle accident on Thursday morning in Hobe Sound, Martin County, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened on Florida’s Turnpike, south of Southeast Bridge Road at around 8:00 a.m.
Authorities said three vehicles collided for reasons yet to be determined.
Two people sustained severe injuries, potentially life-threatening. One person was airlifted to a hospital while the other one was transported by ambulance.
Authorities closed lanes for approximately 25 minutes to give way for a LifeStar helicopter to land.
An investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol is ongoing.
