Chicago, IL. – Two people were injured after a multi-car accident on Wednesday afternoon in Chicago, according to the Illinois State Police.

The accident happened a while after 3:30 p.m. on June 17, on eastbound I-90 near W. Grand Avenue.

Police said a semi was hauling scrap metal that spread across the road, and a piece was wedged between a bridge and the road. Two vehicles were struck by debris.

Two people sustained injuries and were transported to area hospitals. 

IDOT confirmed the bridge was not damaged.

Multiple inbound lanes were closed and drivers asked to use alternate routes. The roadway re-opened at about 8:05 p.m.

No additional details regarding this crash were provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
