Police said 53-year-old Elizabeth Shepherd was heading eastbound on Chestnut Street in a Mercury Mountaineer when she failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the junction.

Quincy, IL. – One man was flown to the hospital after a traffic collision involving a moped and an SUV on Tuesday afternoon in Quincy, according to the Quincy Police Department.

The accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of 18th Street and Chestnut Street.

Police said 53-year-old Elizabeth Shepherd was heading eastbound on Chestnut Street in a Mercury Mountaineer when she failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the junction.

Shepherd’s vehicle crashed into a moped that was stopped at the stop sign.

The moped male driver suffered severe injuries and was transported to Blessing Hospital by ambulance. He was later flown to a hospital in Springfield for further treatment.

Shepherd was put into custody, cited and released for expired registration and failure to stop at a stop sign.
