Seminole County, FL – One person was killed and three others were injured two seriously, following a three-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Seminole County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened around 9:13 a.m. on June 7 at the intersection of W State Road 46 and Osceola Road, troopers said.

FHP said an SUV, a sprinter van, and a Dodge pickup truck were involved in the crash.

Preliminary investigation revealed the pickup truck, operated by a 36-year-old Geneva woman, was traveling westbound on SR-46 behind the van, operated by a 46-year-old Sanford man.

The pickup’s driver tried to pass the van but swerved back toward the westbound lane after seeing the oncoming SUV in the eastbound lane, police said.

As a result, the front-right of the pickup struck the left rear of the van. The impact caused the van to veer into the eastbound lane where it collided head-on with the SUV.

The pickup drove off the roadway and caught fire, troopers said.

According to FHP, a passenger in the SUV, identified only as a 68-year-old Cincinnati man, died at the scene.

Two other passengers in the SUV – a 67-year-old Cincinnati woman and a 29-year-old DeBary woman – were hospitalized with serious injuries. The SUV driver – a 43-year-old DeBary man, was also hospitalized with minor Injuries.

The driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized.

The crash remains under investigation.
