Authorities said a 29 year old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning on County Road 200A near Northeast 110th Street in Marion County.
Marion County, FL.- A 29 year old man was killed following a pedestrian hit and run accident Wednesday morning in Marion County.
The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on September 9 on County Road 200A near Northeast 110th Street.
Authorities said the pedestrian was walking along the east shoulder of County Road 200A when he was struck by a northbound silver Ford Explorer.
The 29 year old man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the driver of the Ford initially left the scene without stopping.
Approximately one hour later, the driver returned and admitted being involved in the collision.
Authorities identified the driver as 29 year old Matthew Boardman of Marion County.
Boardman was arrested and faces a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
Additional information about the circumstances leading up to the collision has not been released.
The fatal accident remains under investigation.
