Police said a man was killed after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning near 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road in Phoenix.
Phoenix, AZ.- A pedestrian was killed following an accident involving a vehicle Saturday morning in Phoenix.
The accident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. on September 5 near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road.
According to police, the man was attempting to cross Deer Valley Road outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not publicly released the identity of the man who was killed.
The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Police said speed and impairment did not appear to have contributed to the fatal accident.
Deer Valley Road was closed between 33rd Avenue and 35th Avenue while emergency crews responded and investigators examined the scene.
The roadway reopened at approximately 8:15 a.m.
