Authorities said two people were killed after a small plane crashed Monday near an orchard on Trout Creek Ridge Road in Parkdale.
Parkdale, OR.- Two people were killed following a small plane crash Monday in Hood River County, according to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred on August 31 near Trout Creek Ridge Road in Parkdale.
The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a possible plane crash at approximately 11:31 a.m. near Old Parkdale Road.
Deputies began searching the upper Hood River Valley with assistance from the sheriff’s office plane and personnel from the Parkdale Fire Department.
Authorities located the crash site at approximately 12:32 p.m. near an orchard on Trout Creek Ridge Road.
The aircraft was a single engine plane with two occupants.
Both people aboard the aircraft suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the victims as James Crain and Scott Perry, both of Hood River.
The aircraft was secured at the scene while federal investigators prepared to examine the wreckage.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Authorities have not released information about what caused the aircraft to crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
