Authorities said one person was injured after a van collided with a semi trailer and caught fire Tuesday afternoon on US 51 near East Lair Street in Vernon.
Vernon, IL.- One person was injured following an accident involving a van and a semi truck Tuesday afternoon on US 51 in Vernon.
The accident occurred on September 2 near East Lair Street.
According to the initial report, the van was traveling northbound on US 51 behind the semi truck as the truck began turning east onto East Lair Street.
The van reportedly failed to reduce speed and struck the semi trailer.
Following the collision, the van caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked to extinguish the vehicle fire.
The van driver suffered injuries and was transported to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.
A passenger traveling in the van was not injured.
The driver of the semi truck was also not injured in the collision.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the condition or identity of the injured van driver.
