Authorities said a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy was hospitalized following a traffic accident Tuesday on northbound Florida’s Turnpike near the Northwest 41st Street exit in Miami.
Miami, FL.- A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured following a traffic accident Tuesday on Florida’s Turnpike.
The accident occurred on September 1 in the northbound lanes near the Northwest 41st Street exit.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the collision involved a deputy assigned to its Special Response Team.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the injured deputy to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the deputy was listed in stable condition following the accident.
Multiple northbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike were closed while emergency crews assisted those involved and investigators examined the accident scene.
The affected lanes reopened several hours later after the scene was cleared.
A Special Response Team vehicle was visible at the scene, but authorities said that vehicle was not involved in the collision.
Officials have not released additional information about the circumstances leading up to the accident or whether any charges or citations are expected.
