Troopers said a 37 year old Orlando woman was killed and three other people were seriously injured following a two vehicle accident Sunday night on Colonial Drive in east Orlando.
Orlando, FL.- One woman was killed and three others were seriously injured following a two vehicle accident Sunday night in Orlando, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on August 30 at Colonial Drive and Sherman Street.
Troopers said the 37 year old woman was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer and was stopped in the westbound left turn lane of Colonial Drive.
The woman attempted to make a left turn onto Sherman Street and entered the path of an eastbound Mercedes Benz.
The Mercedes struck the right side of the Chevrolet, causing the Trailblazer to overturn following the impact.
The woman driving the Chevrolet suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Mercedes was driven by a 21 year old Orlando man. He and two passengers, a 16 year old boy and a 19 year old man, suffered serious injuries.
All three were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The eastbound side of Colonial Drive remained closed for approximately eight hours while emergency crews responded and investigators examined the accident scene. The roadway reopened around 6 a.m. Monday.
The accident remains under investigation.
