Authorities said a 61 year old Seattle man was injured following a five vehicle chain reaction accident Saturday afternoon on Interstate 5 near Woodland.
Woodland, WA.- One person was injured following a five vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on southbound Interstate 5 near Woodland.
The accident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. on August 29 near the Lewis River Bridge.
According to the initial investigation, a Subaru SUV driven by 19 year old Thatcher Burkart of Portland approached slowing traffic but failed to stop.
The Subaru struck traffic ahead, triggering a chain reaction collision involving four additional vehicles.
Authorities said the accident involved a Nissan Sentra, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Outback, and GMC Sierra pickup truck in addition to Burkart’s Subaru.
The 61 year old Seattle man driving the Nissan suffered injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A 27 year old Yakima woman, a 47 year old Longview man, and a 44 year old Normandy Park man were not injured.
The vehicles involved sustained varying levels of damage in the collision.
Burkart was cited for following too closely.
The accident remains under investigation as authorities review additional information.
