2 Seriously Hurt in Gas Explosion at Fort Myers Home

Authorities said two people suffered serious burn injuries following a gas explosion Friday at a residence on Riverstone Lane in the Marina Bay community of Fort Myers.

Fort Myers, FL.- A man and woman in their 60s were seriously injured following a gas explosion at a Fort Myers residence.

The explosion occurred on August 28 at a home on Riverstone Lane in the Marina Bay community.

According to initial reports, the explosion happened while the two residents were attempting to light a grill.

Both the man and woman suffered first degree burns as a result of the blast.

Emergency crews responded to the residence and determined that both victims had injuries serious enough to meet trauma alert criteria.

The two injured residents were transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding their current conditions.

Details about what caused the gas to ignite while the grill was being lit have not been released.
