Woman Killed in Amtrak Train Accident on Moncrief Road in Jacksonville

Authorities said a woman in her 30s was killed after an Amtrak train struck her SUV Thursday morning near Moncrief Road and Old Kings Road in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville, FL.- A woman was killed following an accident involving an SUV and an Amtrak train Thursday morning in Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on August 27 in the 6100 block of Moncrief Road near Old Kings Road.

According to investigators, the woman was driving an SUV when she apparently drove around an activated railroad crossing arm and entered the tracks.

An approaching Amtrak train then struck the SUV.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, but the woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the woman was believed to be in her 30s. Her identity has not been released.

No other injuries were reported following the collision.

The Amtrak train was traveling from Chicago to Tampa and had approximately 150 passengers and crew members aboard at the time of the accident.
