Police said seven people were hospitalized following a two vehicle accident involving a passenger van and a semi truck Wednesday morning in Bridgeview.
Bridgeview, IL.- Seven people were injured following an accident involving a white van and a semi truck Wednesday morning in Bridgeview.
The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on August 26 at the intersection of Harlem Avenue and 71st Street.
Police and emergency crews responded to the scene following reports of a serious collision involving the two vehicles.
Authorities said six people were traveling inside the white van at the time of the accident.
All six occupants of the van were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Two of the van occupants suffered critical injuries. Authorities have not released additional information regarding the conditions of the other four people.
The driver of the semi truck was also injured and transported to a hospital. Officials said the truck driver was expected to recover.
The collision resulted in road closures while emergency crews assisted the injured and investigators examined the accident scene.
Northbound lanes of 71st Street were closed following the collision. Police also blocked northbound Harlem Avenue at 79th Street while crews remained in the area.
Additional information about what caused the two vehicles to collide has not been released.
