Illinois State Police said injuries were reported following a three vehicle accident Tuesday at the Interstate 57 and Interstate 74 interchange in Champaign.
Champaign, IL.- Multiple vehicles were involved in an injury accident Tuesday at the I-57/I-74 interchange in Champaign, according to Illinois State Police.
The accident occurred on August 25 on eastbound Interstate 74 in the lanes leading to southbound Interstate 57.
Troopers said the collision involved three vehicles, including two passenger cars and a semi truck.
Emergency crews responded to the scene after receiving reports that people had been injured in the accident.
Authorities have not released the number of people who were injured or information regarding the severity of their injuries.
The collision caused significant traffic restrictions at the interchange, reducing traffic to one lane while emergency personnel assisted those involved and worked to clear the damaged vehicles.
Drivers traveling through the area were advised to use an alternate route when possible or proceed with caution.
Illinois State Police estimated that crews would need approximately two hours to clear the accident scene.
