2 Officers, Driver Hurt in Police Vehicle Accident on South State Street in Chicago

Police said two officers and a driver were injured after an SUV collided with a police squad vehicle early Wednesday morning on South State Street in Chicago.

Chicago, IL.- Three people were injured following an accident involving an SUV and a police squad vehicle Wednesday morning in Chicago.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:14 a.m. on August 19 in the 11900 block of South State Street in the city’s West Pullman neighborhood.

Authorities said a 37 year old woman was driving north on State Street when she reportedly disregarded a traffic signal and struck the police squad vehicle.

Two Chicago police officers who were inside the squad vehicle suffered injuries in the collision.

Both officers were transported to local hospitals for treatment and were reported to be doing well following the accident.

The 37 year old SUV driver suffered minor injuries and was also transported to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision.

Charges and citations remained pending following the accident as investigators continued reviewing the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
