Troopers said a 49 year old Umatilla man was killed and another driver was injured following a two vehicle rollover accident Monday on County Road 439 near Freeman Drive.
Umatilla, FL.- One man was killed and another was injured following a two vehicle accident Monday in Umatilla, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on August 17 on County Road 439 south of Freeman Drive.
Troopers said an SUV driven by a 49 year old Umatilla man was traveling north on County Road 439 while a pickup truck driven by a 22 year old Lake Mary man was traveling south.
According to investigators, the SUV entered the path of the approaching pickup truck.
The front left portions of the SUV and pickup truck collided, causing both vehicles to overturn following the impact.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 22 year old pickup truck driver suffered non life threatening injuries and was transported to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital for treatment.
The roadway was temporarily blocked while troopers investigated the collision and emergency crews worked at the scene. The road has since reopened.
Authorities have not released the identities of the two drivers or additional information about the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
