Police said a 5 year old child suffered life threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in a hit and run accident Monday night at 9th Street and Dolomite Circle in Reno.
Reno, NV.- A 5 year old child was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Monday night in Reno, according to the Reno Police Department.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:33 p.m. on August 17 at the intersection of 9th Street and Dolomite Circle.
Authorities said the child was chasing a ball into the street when a vehicle struck the child.
Reno police, firefighters, and REMSA personnel responded to the scene following reports that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian.
The child suffered severe, life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
According to police, the driver involved in the collision left the scene without stopping to provide assistance.
Investigators have not released a description of the vehicle or the driver involved in the hit and run.
The Reno Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.
Police believe numerous witnesses may have left the area before officers arrived at the scene. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the vehicle or driver to contact investigators.
The accident remains under investigation.
