Troopers said a 31 year old Haines City man was killed after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning on U.S. 27 near Cagan Crossings Boulevard in Lake County.
Clermont, FL.- A pedestrian was killed following an accident Saturday morning on U.S. 27 in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 6:39 a.m. on August 15 on U.S. 27 south of Cagan Crossings Boulevard.
Troopers said a witness reported seeing the 31 year old Haines City man walking in the left turn lane before he entered the northbound inside lane.
According to investigators, the pedestrian then lay down in the roadway in the path of a northbound 2015 Kia Forte.
The Kia struck the pedestrian with its undercarriage.
The 31 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Kia was driven by a 69 year old Clermont man. Troopers said the driver was not injured in the collision and remained at the scene following the accident.
Authorities have not released the identity of the pedestrian or additional information about the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
