Authorities said a 54 year old Saybrook man was killed following a head on accident Thursday afternoon on US 66 near Lincoln.
Lincoln, IL.- One man was killed and another person was injured following a head on accident Thursday afternoon near Lincoln.
The accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on August 13 on US 66 near 1500th Avenue.
The Logan County Coroner’s Office identified the man who was killed as 54 year old Scott E. Baxter of Saybrook.
Baxter was transported to Lincoln Memorial Hospital following the collision. He was later pronounced dead in the emergency room.
The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the condition of the other driver.
US 66 remained closed following the accident while emergency crews responded to the scene and investigators examined the collision. The roadway reopened at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Additional information about the circumstances that led to the head on collision has not been released.
The accident remains under investigation.
