Police said a 25 year old woman was killed following a chain reaction hit and run accident Saturday night on West Irving Park Road in Chicago.
Chicago, IL.- A pedestrian was killed following a hit and run accident Saturday night on Chicago’s North Side.
The accident occurred around 9:22 p.m. on August 8 in the 1400 block of West Irving Park Road.
Police said the 25 year old woman walked between two parked vehicles and entered the roadway when she was struck by a blue sedan driven by a man.
Authorities said the driver fled after striking the pedestrian and then collided with a dark colored SUV, causing a chain reaction accident involving a black vehicle.
Investigators said the SUV driver followed the blue sedan after the second collision.
The fleeing driver later crashed into a tree before running into a nearby building in the 4000 block of North Ashland Avenue.
Emergency crews transported the pedestrian to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Police said the driver of the blue sedan was taken into custody.
The accident remains under investigation.
