Illinois State Police said a woman was killed after being struck while walking along Illinois Route 394 early Monday morning in Lynwood.
Lynwood, IL.- A pedestrian was killed following an accident Monday morning in Lynwood.
The accident occurred at approximately 12:01 a.m. on August 3 on southbound Illinois Route 394 near Joe Orr Road.
Authorities said the woman was walking southbound on the highway when she was struck by a vehicle.
The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators have not determined why she was walking on the interstate.
Officials said a truck was observed towing another vehicle from the scene.
The roadway reopened during the morning commute after the Illinois State Police investigation concluded.
Authorities have not released additional information about the hit and run, including the identity of the driver involved.
The accident remains under investigation.
