Troopers said a 28 year old West Palm Beach man was killed and several others were injured following a chain reaction accident Sunday night on Interstate 95 in Riviera Beach.
Riviera Beach, FL.- One person was killed and several others were injured following a multi vehicle accident Sunday night in Riviera Beach, according to investigators.
The accident occurred around 11:20 p.m. on August 2 on northbound Interstate 95 near Mile Marker 75.
Investigators said a silver 2015 Cadillac ATS was stopped in the outside center lane when a black 2013 BMW 328i approached from behind and was unable to stop before striking the rear of the Cadillac.
Moments later, a gray 2015 Nissan Rogue traveling behind the BMW also collided with the Cadillac, resulting in a three vehicle accident.
The driver of the Cadillac, a 28 year old West Palm Beach man, suffered critical injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he later died.
Everyone else involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and was transported to the same hospital for treatment.
Northbound Interstate 95 was temporarily closed while emergency crews responded to the scene and cleared the roadway. Traffic resumed around 3:40 a.m. Monday.
The accident remains under investigation.
