Troopers said two young men suffered serious injuries following a truck accident Monday afternoon on Interstate 4 near State Road 33 in Lakeland.
Lakeland, FL.- Two people were seriously injured following a truck accident Monday afternoon in Lakeland, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 3:50 p.m. on August 3 on westbound Interstate 4 near Exit 38 (State Road 33).
Troopers said a Lexus entered the outside shoulder and struck a disabled tractor trailer that was parked there.
Following the initial collision, the Lexus rotated back into the westbound travel lanes, where it was struck by another tractor trailer traveling in the center lane.
The driver of the Lexus, a 20 year old Winter Haven man, and his passenger, a 19 year old Orlando man, were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The drivers of both tractor trailers were not injured.
Westbound Interstate 4 remained closed for several hours while emergency crews responded to the scene and cleared the roadway.
The accident remains under investigation.
